Red dunes. The Atlantic meeting the desert. Wildlife at a waterhole and an evening beneath the stars. Namibia makes the journey itself part of the reward.
Namibia rewards people who enjoy being on the move. Landscapes change through the window, conversations last longer and the next view can bring the whole vehicle to silence. This is an active incentive road trip, with several substantial driving days.
Our proposal covers seven nights and eight days on location: two near Sesriem–Sossusvlei, two in Swakopmund, two near southern Etosha and one in or around Windhoek. International travel is additional. The four bases protect full days for the desert, coast and safari.
Programme ideas
Experiences with a sense of place.
The dry trees of Deadvlei against red dunes and a blue sky
Sossusvlei and Deadvlei
An early start, dark tree silhouettes, pale ground and orange dunes. We plan the visit with a guide, time for photographs and an optional dune climb matched to the group. A shorter walk or gentler photography option is equally valid. Access times depend on the lodge location and park arrangements.
Namib Desert dunes meeting the Atlantic near Sandwich Harbour
Where the dunes meet the Atlantic
Swakopmund is the coastal base for Walvis Bay and Sandwich Harbour. Local guides lead small groups in 4×4 vehicles, with tides and weather determining the permitted route and viewpoints. A lagoon cruise or kayaking can be an alternative to part of the land programme.
An African elephant in Etosha National Park
A full safari day in Etosha
Guided drives focus on waterholes and open spaces, with a meal break and time to observe. Elephants, giraffes, zebras and other wildlife may be seen; exact sightings remain dependent on nature. We select lodges, vehicles and the route around group size and current conditions.
A view from a helicopter cockpit over the dunes near Sossusvlei
Experiences to choose, not to rush through
A lodge dinner beneath the stars, a guided night-sky session, a Living Desert Tour, a Walvis Bay cruise or kayaking near Pelican Point can add another dimension. Scenic flights and ballooning are premium alternatives that need a separate budget and revised timing. Weather, capacity and availability are confirmed for the event.
Windhoek and Christuskirche at sunset
A final evening near Windhoek
The last night near the capital creates time for dinner, a gallery of the group’s photographs and a calm conclusion. It also avoids a long drive back from Etosha on the international departure day. A short city visit is added only if arrival time allows.
Your itinerary / 8 days / 7 nights on location
A programme to make your own.
Day 1 / Sossusvlei area · Night 1
Into the Namib
An early morning arrival in Windhoek and approximately five to six hours of driving towards the lodge near Sesriem, plus lunch and rest stops. A quiet evening follows.
Day 2 / Sossusvlei area · Night 2
Dunes and Deadvlei
An early guided visit, photography and an optional dune climb. Rest later in the day; Sesriem Canyon can be considered if conditions and timing allow.
Day 3 / Swakopmund · Night 3
Desert to Atlantic
Approximately five to six hours of driving, plus stops including the Solitaire area. Check-in, a coastal walk if time allows and dinner.
Day 4 / Swakopmund · Night 4
Sandwich Harbour
Walvis Bay and a guided 4×4 excursion, with the route adapted to tides and conditions. A cruise or kayaking can replace part of the plan for a subgroup.
Day 5 / Southern Etosha area · Night 5
Towards the wildlife country
A transit day, usually around six to seven hours of driving plus breaks. Lunch, scenic stops and time to settle into the lodge take priority.
Day 6 / Southern Etosha area · Night 6
A day of safari
Guided wildlife observation with a meal break, selecting waterholes and routes according to conditions. Return to the lodge for dinner.
Day 7 / Windhoek area · Night 7
Bring the journey together
Approximately five to six hours of driving plus stops. Rest after arrival, then a final dinner and the group’s stories from the road.
Day 8 / Departure
One last Namibian morning
Breakfast and a transfer to Hosea Kutako Airport with time allowed for the chosen flight.
Driving times are indicative and exclude all rest stops. Days 1, 3, 5 and 7 are primarily transfer days. The outline assumes an early arrival that allows travel to the first lodge in daylight. Different flight times require an agreed adjustment. A shorter route or selected local flights can be quoted for a slower pace, subject to availability.
Quality First! / Behind the scenes
From the brief to the last transfer.
01 / The purpose
We agree the people, objectives, pace and room requirements before choosing the final programme.
02 / The practical plan
Flights, transfers, accommodation, guides and selected activities are coordinated as one itinerary.
03 / The group experience
Dietary needs, activity alternatives, business sessions and shared evenings are considered together.
04 / On-site delivery
We agree communication, participant information and the scope of TRCO’s on-site coordination.
Can we combine the desert, coast and safari in seven nights?
Yes, as an intensive road trip with several long transfer days. The example gives two nights each to the desert, coast and Etosha, followed by one near Windhoek. A slower programme can cover fewer areas or use separately quoted local flights.
Can flights replace some of the driving?
We can investigate local flights or a charter on selected legs. Aircraft availability, airstrips, capacity and baggage rules are confirmed for the dates, and a larger group may need to split.
Does everyone have to climb a high dune?
No. We can provide a shorter walk or photography option alongside a longer climb. The pace follows participants and conditions.
Are all the experiences on this page included?
No. Ballooning, scenic flights, cruises, kayaking, specialist tours and private events are alternatives or additions to agree in the quotation. The programme is designed to leave time for travel and rest.
